Lotus Flower in Sri Lanka (නෙලුම් මල් - Nelum Mal)
The lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is a sacred and culturally significant flower in Sri Lanka, deeply tied to Buddhism, art, and daily life. Known as "Nelum" in Sinhala and "Thamarai" in Tamil, it thrives in freshwater lakes, ponds, and temple tanks across the country.
නෙළුම් (නෙලුම්බෝ නුසිෆෙරා) යනු ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පූජනීය හා සංස්කෘතික වශයෙන් වැදගත් මලක් වන අතර එය බුද්ධාගම, කලාව සහ දෛනික ජීවිතයට ගැඹුරින් බැඳී ඇත. සිංහලෙන් "නෙලුම්" සහ දෙමළෙන් "තමරයි" ලෙස හැඳින්වෙන එය රට පුරා මිරිදිය විල්, පොකුණු සහ පන්සල් වැව්වල හොඳින් වැඩෙයි.
